Jack
Thomson
As a creative leader within the Higher Education Sector in Australia for the past seven years, I have always believed in empowering my team and my students through the way they think, communicate and express ideas.
Collaboration, trial and error, along with data-driven goals are the foundation of my work ethic.

In the past, have led teams of up to sixty people from students to executives, with diverse backgrounds and in multi-lingual environments. We worked towards a common goal by facilitating discussions that align with our strategies to make real-world impacts. I can rally a team and build relationships with stakeholders at any level. I’ve been creating meaningful experiences for my staff and students for the past seven years and the prospect of making more really excites me.
As Student Experience Manager for the University of Sydney, I oversaw and ran events, initiatives, student orientation, staff training, human resources, policy creation, and reform and operational management of contractors and key stakeholders. I also looked after mid to high-level student incidents and how they are reported and responded to along with the Marketing of the Business Unit. This role along with my positions as a Board Member for the Asia Pacific Student Accommodation Association, Facilitator at Mental Health First Aid Australia and University Relation Officer at the Golden Key International Honour Society, give me an international oversight and understanding of leadership, learning, training and development, giving me a great foundation for whatever comes next.
I am eager to work in a creative environment and utilize my knowledge, along with the managerial skills I gained working, training, and facilitating, over the past decade within the roles in my attached resume below.
A personal ethos and one I have had for the past decade is a Wiradjuri phrase, yindyamarra winhanganha, meaning the wisdom of respectfully knowing how to live well, in a world worth living in, and I am excited to see where this takes me next.
